I would check that spring thing...
I am 6'-2" and have never had a problem... I know a couple of guys 6'-7"+ with Chevelles... Maybe they'll see this...
As for lowering the stock seat... I think the only war is to cut and reweld the tracks, and even then, I don't know how much lower you can get them...
As for leaning back too far, sounds like the oval bushings need to be replaced. This is a very common problem...
If the bottom of the seat leans back, then either somebody modified the seats, or they're broken...
