Lowering front bucket seats?

1706 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  1966_L78
I have a 71 SS454, buckets, all original. I'm the second and 7th owner (long story). I'm 6 ft 2 in, and the seats are not only too high, the lean way back. If I adjust the bumpstops, my head will touch the headliner! Any place to get different seat rails? Any ideas?

I would check that spring thing...

I am 6'-2" and have never had a problem... I know a couple of guys 6'-7"+ with Chevelles... Maybe they'll see this...

As for lowering the stock seat... I think the only war is to cut and reweld the tracks, and even then, I don't know how much lower you can get them...

As for leaning back too far, sounds like the oval bushings need to be replaced. This is a very common problem...

If the bottom of the seat leans back, then either somebody modified the seats, or they're broken...
