I have just bought a 68 chevelle with a 454. The front sets to high about 3" above the tires, 26" tires. The rear sets to low about 2.5" below the top of the tires.

I have no idea what springs are in it now, neither does the previous owner.

I guess I need to go back to stock BB springs all around. Need to start somewhere.

Could some one tell me what the stock springs are suppose to be? Part#s, spring rates, etc.

Thanks!

My spring issue was when I stuck a 454 in my ( 307 ) 70 Nomad wgn. with fac. A/C. After the third set of B.B. springs. A friend who builds a lot of Chevelles said the front spring you need for a stock ride height.
The front springs in my 70 454 & 700R ) wagon are for a --" 350 Vell. with fac. A/C & a 350-T.
The ride height is perfect. NOTE: Most cheeeeep auto parts places offer, Standard and or Heavy Duty. You will find MANY,MANY front coils for Chevelles. It depends on ,,,, What is attached to the car " Under the sheetmetal ".

Your wagon looks great! I would like that for my 68. So you think I should get springs for a 350 Chevelle w/AC? Can you suggest a reputable brand?

There are so many places selling springs, I'm haven't a clue what's good and what is junk.

Thanks for any help.

BTW, I have searched this forum and read threads about springs and ride height till I'm totally confused.

It is something of a gamble<,as they often don't turn out like you expect.
I think your idea is OK to start with the springs the book calls for.

Is moog the right company to get back to stock with? I think I can get Moog from the local NAPA store.

MOOG will be fine, no problems. Good availability through Napa and good price as well.

My problem is opposite. I just bought a 66Chevelle with dropped spindles. Replaced them with STANDARD power disc from Ground up, but still too low. O'reilly Auto Parts has moog springs. I'm going to try their #5256, Malbu 396 w/air standard duty, if they will take them back if they don't do what I want. Moog web site shows that to be 2174 lb. design load, the highest of the other numbers at O'reilly and NAPA. I think NAPA list the same ones under Malibu convertible w/ air. Check the moog site for specs if you can get the numbers
