Hey all, I just went to replace the alternator on the 68 Chevelle I just purchased, and discovered that there is a wire coming out of the alternator group just hanging around. There is the BAT wire and the center wire harness (containing 2 wires) which are hooked up. The loose one is green and has a harness on the end of it. The alternator has got a lug ground, but nothing hooked to it.

So what is that green wire for?

Thanks!

The factory wiring has a dark green wire in that area for the temprature switch/sender. Do you have a functioning water temp warning light or factory temp gauge?

Thanks for the info. That sounds like the little bugger. I'll check it out. I just wasn't at all sure what it was -supposed- to go to.

Thanks again,
