Haven't taken delivery, and it's not a Chevelle, but I put a deposit on a 71 Riviera GS today.

It ain't pretty by a long shot but it's all there (somewhere...in a box) but my oldest boy (10) has been asking about engines for a little while so I've been looking for a father and son (and son(7) and son(5)) project.

I wanted something big enough for 5 and I like the style of the boat tail Rivs.

I'm getting to old for something that doesn't float a bit but not so old that I don't like to stomp the gas every once in a while.

The 455 ought to fit the bill.

Here's a shot of the good side. And if this side doesn't look good to you, you're right.

$1500 doesn't buy much nowadays.

Good for you Jeff. I have all ways liked the mid 60`s and early 70`s Rivieras. I owned a 67 that someone had swapped out the 430 for a 455. That was probably one of the best all around cars I had early on. Hope the boys enjoy it.

I think half of them built were that color and the other half were dark green!

Oddly enough John, someone painted it that color. It was originally a kind of beige/gold color.

I always liked the boat tail Rivieras. My dad had a nice 73 when I was a kid. I was upset when he got rid of it. That'll make a nice father/son project. Post lots of progress pics.

well you know the Buick big block has the wedge thing going on so it's sort of actually way better than the BBC engine

Those boat tails are pretty sharp when done. Although im not sure how the source of restoration parts is for one of those though.

Had one back in the day. Just hop in that back seat and chech out your leg room. got to be the tightest back seat in a big car. I just luv um though. Wonder if you could do a custom and give it a split window look?
