i don’t know much about wheels and i’m still confused about backspacing and unilugs. i plan on doing 275s or 295s in the rear and 215s or 225s in the front. i “think” i want a bigger sized rim in the rear and smaller one in the front, and i want the rear tire to have a “meaty” look. here’s a picture of a setup that i have in mind.

I KNOW THESE ARENT THE WHEELS IM TALKING ABOUT, but i like how the fit with the tire and the apearence of the front end being lower

If you go with 295 rear tires I'm sure you'll need to use a 10" wide wheel, my 255/50/17" are on a 9.5" with 5.5" BS wheel, a 275 IIRC can fit on a 8" wheel, also my 295/55/15" are on a 10" wheel with 5.5" BS so make sure to buy the correct width & BS so your new wheels & tires don't rub anywhere, I've never liked the look of wheels sticking out of a fender well on anything not even trucks LOL

Here is a pic of my '72 with similar setup to what you want. These are 295/50/15 on a 9" wheel with 5.0" backspacing, and a 235/60/15 on a 8" wheel with 4.5" backspacing. Fronts are 26.2" tall, rears are 26.8" tall.

These are US Mags, not Cragar SS. If you want Cragar SS make sure you do not get unilug. I lived through that nightmare once, long, long ago when they first came out with them. Get the proper 5 x 4 3/4" bolt pattern.

Also a close up of what a 295/50/15 on a 9" wheel looks like.

If you go with a 10" rear wheel, you want a 5.5" backspacing.

Kyal I think you should be spending your $$ on making your Car Safe and Running Better
before looking at Wheel & Tire changes

You might need more BackSpacing on the Wheels for your Car depending on a lot of Factors
here is a/my Sticky How To Measure Your Car's Wheel Wells
that is a must READ & DO if you want to buy Wheels/Tires once
that will fit your Car with NO RUBbing problems

CRAGAR Wheels are a lot more Cost wise $ 223.us to $ 268.us Each
Cragar 08/61 Series S/S Super Sport Wheels | JEGS
AND with them you can ONLY GET the UNI ones for 10" Wide for the Rear / not good

JEGs Wheels are much less $ 106.us to 135.us Each
and they have a better Range of Sizes/BackSpaces in the 5 x 4.75 Bolt Patterns
JEGS Sport Star Cast Aluminum Wheels | JEGS
I use them for on the Street Tires and on the Track Tires // BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK
and JEGs has Sets of 4 Wheels & Tires + they will Mount/Balance the Tires + Ship to you Ready to put on your Car

And Jeggs wheels are not made by Jeggs but one of the better mfg's of custom wheels ( I don't know who) but you're not paying for the name just getting the better wheel, and who really cares to pay just for the name when it comes down to spending your hard earned $$, just the way I look at things :) Edit I actually bought my Weld 10" X 15" with MT ET 295/55/15" used from another TC member that lives close by IIRC $500 in decent shape, and I'd stay away from uni lug wheels, I'm surprised with the goofey washers that's needed they're still legally sold to be honest

Pictured are Cragar SS 8 x15 rear with P275/60R15 & Cragar SS 7 x 15 with P235/60R15 on the front ..... I am going to see if P235/70R15 will fit on front, its somewhat questionable but I need to get the front up as I only have 2" clearance under long tube headers

Looks great, I have seriously been considering cragar ss 17s. It says 17x9, is that front and rear? What backspacing? What are your tire sizes? Thanks for the help 👍
I put these on like 15 years ago, don’t remember all the details.
17x9 front and rear 0 offset 4.5 backspace
Tires 235/45ZR17

Wish I had went with a 8” front and 9.5” back the front scrubs a little at sharp turns with passengers and the rear could have went a little wider.

I went the same size for rotation purposes.

Way back in 1991 my 1970 had Cragar S/S 15x7 in front with deep backspacing and 235/60R15 tires. The rear spun Cragar S/S 15x10 with L60-15 (275/60B15) belted tires. All the tires would touch the inner fenders with aggressive driving. My fix at the time was to raise the rear end six inches, which sorely hurt handling. Sorry I don't remember the exact backspacing on those wheels.
