I found a 9 inch that measures 58" face to face where wheel sits and figure this would be a good upgrade from the 10 bolt that's currently in my 69 chevelle. I have no problem with fabricating and such I'm just wondering if there's an easy way to go about it like should I cut the brackets off my 10 bolt or is there someone that sells them? I have the welders, plasma cutters and tools so I like to use them when I can. Is there anyone here that has experience with this that can point me in the right direction or have a link? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also keep in mind it's basically a budget build that I'm working on with my son

Use the car to do the work.put the housing under the car where you want it and bolt the arms loosely to the car mounts. Now you can see where the mounts on the rear have to be. I would cut the lowers off the 10bolt because those will fit and be at the right angles. Now that the bottoms are tacked in you can make the upper housing mounts.

If that 58" is axle flange to axle flange, I think it's a bit narrower than OEM for a '69. You can use spacers or use wheels with less offset. Agree with other fella, mock it up under your car and tack the brackets into place. If it were me, I'd look for new brackets rather than cutoff the old ones from your 10 bolt.

Thanks for all the input guys much appreciated and yeah putting diff under car and welding brackets to where they need to go makes so much sense thanks for that!
I'm not racing just picked up this rearend for cheap so would like to put it to good use. I do have a 12 bolt housing and open diff I could use but PO ran it in a leaf spring car and cut off all the brackets so basically in the same boat

Check out Quick Performance QPF9A68H-QP GM 1968-1972 A Body 9 Inch Housing

$365 for a standard 9" housing with brackets installed $745 w/ axles & bearings). From there you can upgrade (lots of options) and chose your housing end style to fit pretty much whatever brake you want to use (again several options). If you want a different width, just tell them. IMHO it's not not worth sourcing the parts and fabbing up a housing you have on hand. If you want you can get everything from them to finish it out or pick and chose your parts elsewhere.

I've used them on three builds and have been happy with their products and customer service.

Thanks I've actually checked them out before and definitely looks like the way to go but the problem is I'm in Canada so to have it shipped, duties, exchange exc. would be way more so that's why I'm just gonna use what I have.
Having a four post hoist is gonna make it easier to put diff in place and weld brackets and having all training arms adjustable will make it a bit easier to fine tune after....I'm gonna reuse mostly all the brackets off the 10 bolt but not sure about the top ones yet
