Anyone converted their 69-later BBC over to a newer style SI alternator? I'm looking for one that will bolt in (will fit the existing brackets) without too much trouble.

The 12SI will fit, I am thinking about changing the one on my 86 MCSS to a higher output one from a Pontiac Transport with rear air, it has 140 amp output.

progress has little to do with speed, but lots to do with direction.

Do you happen to have an exact part number for that alternator? Just trying to eliminate many trips to the parts store.

A alternator from a 80 PU will work to replace the old externally regulated alternator. It would produce 63A and would work fine unless you need more output for extra electrical loads.
