Hi Guys,
Im renovating my basement and I am trying to find cool drag race art or dragster photos. I remember there was a face on photo of an old school dragster with the driver wearing a gas mask. Now this is wherei t gets fuzzy, its either a fire-y background or blowing motors or tire dust, etc. Am I out of my mind or is this a famous photo/art painting? Looks like the old gas mask used in the army or what not.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Wow thanks Greg! I like them all. Will go through them and pick out some good ones.

The one I am thinking of may be a painting now that I think about it or a really high resolution photo from the hot rod magazine/photo book.

These are Hot Rod Magazine covers from the 60's... The later '60's have some pretty good cover shots...

My favorite (but I couldn't find it on-line), is an old "Car Craft"? photo, maybe Mickey Thomson? Its a Slingshot rail. IIRC, a blown 427 SOHC Ford motor, and its a close up of the engine, driver and smoking tires... IIRC, the camera was mounted ON the car itself...

This is similar... Go to the July 1970 car Craft cover...

The April 2011 Hot Rod has a two page shot of Garlits on his first trip to California.
No mask, but you can clearly see his face.

I like the shot of the altered in the air.
