um...dont even deal with custom autosound. Trust me.
Second that. Put the stock radio in the dash for looks, mount the radio of your choice out of sight (glove box, underseat, etc). The CAS radios do fit, but the quality doesn't live up to the price.

I have the USA6 with a 6 Disk CD Changer in the trunk. My son installed the radio plus a nice amp and 2 Sub Speakers in the trunk. It works great. I havent put the pictures in the showroom yet. Will try as soon as possible.

I've got an old Jensen with adjustable posts ... but the posts wouldn't adjust enough. Soooo, seeing as how the wararnty expired, what 13 years ago, I took the drill/grinder/dremel tool to it. Didn't have to hack-up the radio opening in the dash. Now all I have to do is fabricate a faceplate.

I agree with Sgtpop. A custom Autosound will do just fine unless your going after some sort of competition sound. I have one for my 66SS and although its not installed yet, all the ones I have seen have no sound issues or problems. Mine is a USA-5.

You can also take your original radio and have the inside upgraded to modern components.

Also, I would like to mention that not all shaft radios will fit right in place. Such as the one in the E Bay add above. I actually bought an Alpine deck exactly like that several years ago from a friend that didnt need it any longer. You need to file out the holes around the shafts to make it fit, and the stock radio bezel will not fit. I didnt know that at the time when I bought it.

Kenwood might still make the KRC-2007 which is an AM/FM/Cassette dual shaft style like what you're wanting. I have one in my Nova and it fits great. Paid $99 new.

Jensen I think still makes a two shaft but as you know their quality went down the drain when Audiovox bought them out.

I'd watch out for places like the Paddock which sell the same radio for over $200.

There was a similar thread a couple of weeks back, check it out.

When I did mine, I posted a thread and received too many negative comments on the custom units for my liking. I ended up installing under dash with a black moulded plastic mount I bought up here through Radio Shack. The same thing is probably available at all other electronic or stereo outlets. It is relatively unobtrusive and allows you to put the stereo of your choice in your car.
I thought of installing it in glove compartment but decided on keeping it closer to driver. I know most units come with remotes, mine did, but they are right up there with cell phones on my list of things not to use when driving.
Good Luck

I beg to differ. I had USA6 and 10 disc changer. I had it for about a year. In that time period I had the radio and changer each replaced 3 times. They would just stop working for no apparent reasons. I'd have to ship them back to CAS, sometimes it would take about 1.5 months to get the stuff back, one time I got it back, and it still didn't work. Yearone, being the AWESOME company that they were took it back after a year after I explained my story to them. Took the 600, and made a MUCH nicer system using a pioneer deck in the glove box, new 4 channel amp and 4 new speakers. The sound quality is soooo much better too, but I attribute that to mostly the amp and nicer speakers.

Another thing, if you buy the CAS kick panel speakers, be prepared to change the speakers soon. The actual fit of the panel is good, but the speakers are pretty low qauilty jobbers. They're are fine if you just going to listen to the radio/cds quietly. But for me, they just don't cut it when I like to just drown out everything and indulge my self in some Joe Satriani.
