I found a truck i'm interested in. A 2006 extended cab, 5.3, leather, loaded with everything, even bose speakers. It has 42,000 miles on it, very clean. Whats a good price on this truck? I can get it for 20K. Does that sound like what it should go for?

I know LS motors are good since that is what my camaro has. Anyone have one of these trucks? Any issues? What mpg are you getting?

I just have to many toys and will be trading my subaru on it, selling my camaro, so I can try to save more towards a house. I still have my T/A to dump money into. I love my camaro, but I only had the tops out about 6 times this year and can only drive it about 6 months.:(

We have an '07 Silverado Luke. Extended cab, 5.3L, 4 x 4, Z71, 3.73 posi rear. An absolutely terrific truck, as has all the previous full size Chevy trucks we've had since 1988. I believe there were a lot of changes and improvements between the '06 and '07, so hard for me to really give you serious input. Lots of towing capacity with the 5.3 (7500 pounds??), but the mileage sucks. Last time I checked the computer I think we averaged about 14 MPG overall. The truck doesn't see a lot of highway driving, except when towing the Chevelle, so that mileage may be a bit misleading. Hope this helps a bit.

Just bought an 06 Z71 x Cab w/ 102000 miles. Not leather but have driven it 5000 miles without a peep. Had an almost new set of Goodyear Silent Armor tires on it....Well over $200 each........$10900.....19.5 mileage with the 3:42's

I think Gary will confirm that the bargains are in the higher mile trucks. They are very difficult to get financed.

Go to Craigslist and search Dallas for some comparison shopping. With maintenance these trucks will go forever. Even a Dodge.

$20K sounds about right. I have a fully loaded 2WD 07 classic (basically an '06) and I paid $24K for it early in 2008. Love that truck and got as high as 23mpg on an all highway trip to mammoth running ~75mph. My average in the city is 17mpg but I have a real light foot. Also have the 5.3L.

I have a 2000 LS 4X4. It has the 6L with a 373 rearend. Gets a pretty constant 15/16 MPG leaning a little more towards highway driving. The power window regulators have been weak. Truck has 85K and drivers side is on its 3rd motor/regulator. Passenger side has been changed as well. Overall it is a pretty nice truck. Can't really go wrong with a Silverado or a F series Ford. Never been real keen on Chrysler trucks. Price is slightly high. 18K is a better deal.

MPG is probably 14 in town for 4x4. Price seems good. My 05 Sierra 2wd gets around 16.5-17mpg 50/50 town/city. I think '06's had 5yr/100k warranties, right? In any case, most of the initial problems should be solved. My Sierra has been pretty good since intial problems, except wind buffeting in rear door window (started out of warranty). 06's shouldn't have those problems. I'd expect good long-term reliability. I'm not too happy with fit/finish of my '05 Sierra. And the Bose stereo SUCKS. Would have been better to get the base stereo and have a shop put in Quality equipment that actually sounds good.
