Iam looking at a 454 locally that i was gonna pick up as i planned on building a 496. The pistons are the same as i have in my current motor ( 2349f ) but the piston is not far in the hole ( less then 10 for sure ) on the flat part .

I couldn't read the numbers on the front pad of the block i could just make out lines but not readable. The heads i hadn't seen yet but were cut at 010. I relize i would not use these pistons or heads but wondered if i would have to have an intake cut if the block was cut .

The guy who has it said it was rebuilt but after the rebuild it was oil fouling plugs on the passenger side and smoking out the exhaust even thou the heads were completly gone thru . I was thinking maybe the intake was sucking oil ?

Iam going back tomm to measure how far the piston is down, drop the pan and check a couple bearings and look at the heads .

There is no way to know what your intake will fit like until you do a trial fit on THAT particular engine. I've had engines with .050" taken off the heads and decks (combined) that the intake was a perfect fit, and other engines that needed .090"/side removed off the intake to fit, and the heads were untouched, block no more than .015" decked.

My block was severely decked to get it near perfect, and the piston is out of the hole. My heads are also milled from AFR to 114 cc, but my new Team G 7622 intake fit perfect.

Now the motor that was pulled for this one, had the heads and blocked decked severely, and the new untouched intake Performer RPM will not sit square to it. It will need to be planed.

Two different motors, same conditions, but different intake plaining needs.
