Ok, so I realize asking for opinions on this will run all over the place. What I’m looking for are 66/67 guys that might be running a 255/45r17 on the front and 255/50r17 Rear. I installed coilovers on this and I feel like I need to raise the front up a little bit. the center fender is right at 23.5 and it certainly looks mean but the car looks like it has too much ”Rubber Rake” with this 245 on the front. I’m also probably just dwelling on it too much.

With the Front of the Car so Low do you not have a problem with the Tire Rubbing on the Inner Fender or Lip
when you are at Max Turn when going into a Driveway or onto another Street ?

When I had my 67 Lowered to 24" // 3" lower than Stock Ride Height I did
had Raise up the Front with a 1" Rubber Spacer under the Moroso Trick Springs to get the Front upto 25 3/8"
from Ground to under Chrome Fender Lip

I think you should raise the Front up at lest 1"

No rubbing, but I feel like I‘m probably going to rip the oil pan off on a speed bump so I’m definitely going to crank up these coilovers. I have a narrow track hub and rotor setup on this and have almost an inch b/t fender and tire. That is why I’m gonna go with a taller tire. That 25.5 245/45 just looks too short.

Taller front tire would balance it nice. Either way I would take it up .5" -.75

Be careful as the Taller Tire will possibly Rub on the Fender Lip on Max Turn
unless you raise the FrontEnd up enough with the Coil Overs

On a 66-67 I like when the same amount of sidewall is showing. The rear wheel arch is smaller on the rear so you get the rake. I like how your car sits but could see you being worried about the ground clearance. I'm running 235/45 & 275/40 both 18"s. BTW what's the information on the narrow track?

Personally, I would decrease your rear tire. I feel your back tire looks way too big for that car. In my opinion, convertibles just don't look nice with that kind of tire set up. I used to have 255/50 R15 on the rear of my 68 convertible with 235/60's up front. I went to 245's all around on 8" Chevy ralleys and was very pleased with the result.

As you stated, 'opinions on this will run all over the place. '. I think the current tire and stance look amazing ! That's exactly how my 70 sits. I'm running 18s front and 20s rear with coilovers. After several years, the 20s on the rear have grown on me as the OD of the rears are 28". I have thought of getting more rubber on the sidewalls by going with a rear 18" while sticking with 28" dia.

Of course I do have to watch in and out angles on the roads and stores. Sometimes taking them at an angle. I know know the correct areas to approach. I'm running a front chin-spoiler as well that hangs 4" under the bumper as well.

Do the best of both worlds and get airbags for the front.

I agree that a larger front tire may create more turning issues than fix.

I think a 245 tire is a good fit on a 66-67. My car has 235/255 and I feel those are a bit on the smaller side, plus they are only 25" tall. I am looking to go to a 245/45/17 and 275/40/17 which are both a 25.7" tire.

And I agree your car sits a bit low in the front - maybe raise it up 1/2" or so?

I feel mine could come down 1/2" in the front, but I have regular springs - not sure which ones as this is how the car came to me.

I was watching this car on Mecum's Eddie Vannoy Collection auction in NC last summer. The car was not perfect, but had alot of appeal. It had alot of features like my original '67, so it appealed to me. Sadly (for interested buyers) it sold for $90,000, so it must have been very nice in person! I saw a Cars & Coffee episode some time later where they interviewed the caretaker of the collection [it had everything in it (Hemi's, Daytona's, etc.)], and when asked which car would he pick out of the entire collection he pointed to the '67 Chevelle SS396 (L34)! Ha! The way it goes, I was interested in the one car that likely sold for more money than it was really worth...I don't believe it was the highest bid car though, obviously! But, still, "the stance" was very appealing to me (and I'm old school....my Chevelle was hiked up much of the time!) You can see the long headers underneath the car and they have adequate clearance (like mine did as well). I don't recall if the car had coilovers or not, but it should have had imo. I had better pictures, showing a front/side shot where the rake was more visible but I can't find them. This is a computer screen shot. It's a JPG so you need to open it first.

This is the kind of fresh perspective I like getting here. I was dwelling on the front tire solution so much I had not much considered the rear. I personally believe a hardtop on the 64-67 A-Body is a better looking car. These convertibles there is a lot more opportunity to screw it up with the wheels and suspension if you’re not careful. So, I think I’ll go run some burnouts on these rears since they‘re brand new and throw‘em up on craigslist. Maybe get into a 255/45 out back.

There is no way you could do a Max turn with that Car without Rubbing the Front Tires
on the Inner Fenders Wells or the Outer Fender Lip

Beautiful looking 67 // just way to low in the Front // unless you only drove it in a Straight Line

I had lowered mine to 24" from Ground to under the Chrome Fender Lip with it's Wheel/Tire Combo

had to put a 1" Rubber Spacer under the Moroso Trick Springs which Raised the FronEnd up 1 3/8"
which put it to 25 3/8" from Ground to under Chrome Fender Lip
PLUS buy a New Wheel with More BackSpace & a Tire not as high in Diameter so it looks like this now

I originally had 17"s but ran into some clearance issues and needed to get new wheels. I went to 18's as there is a much better tire selection. Still has decent sidewall also.

I like the stance like it is. It might be a good move to use the 255 50s in front and back to have 4 matching wheels (assuming fronts and backs have same backspacing).
