hey y'all.
been stalking the posts off and on since 2007. never had much to post about since the Chevelle has been sitting since then. I love the "trending post" email - that's what got me back reading after many years.
still haven't started back in on the car, been sitting completely torn down for about 10 years (all parts bagged and tagged) body off frame (the frame is hanging on the wall!)
you know how it is... family, job, life - spent the last couple decades raising the kids and getting them ready for adulthood. All three are girls, lord help me. Well, the last one started welding school a few months ago and I've been hanging out in my garage a lot more just sitting, drinking, BSing with the guys and looking at that car. This next spring I'm diving in on the restoration so I'll be on here a lot more probably.
background:
grew up in a family of "car guys" loving cars since I could remember. Dad was a Tool & Die maker, Uncle an Engineer for TRW and raced his funny car at Lions drag strip on the weekends. Grandpa owed a trucking company, etc.
I'm 54 now living back home in North Texas and boy time flies. married to my high school sweetheart 33 years and we have three daughters (24, 21, and 18)
the car is a 69 Chevelle Malibu with Factory HO 350 (and all the whistles) It was my Wife's grandmothers - so I'm second owner. I was the only one that'd help her with it when it needed something so she left it to me. Drove it as a daily driver for many years until it just started to wear out.
anyway, long post.. Looking forward to getting back with my first love.... I told the wife when we first started dating that she would be my second... she understood :)

See ya'll around

I have a few (before the tear down) this was right before I moved it into the garage for the teardown - had about 200,000 miles on her (Grandma really enjoyed lead footing it from LA to Vegas several times a year :) )

Well a belated welcome. That 69 looks like it solid. Good luck going forward. What’s the plan, return to stock, maybe a big block, something else?

It's an L48 engine, overall it's in really good shape. The body needs the most work.
Not sure I can be friendly after seeing that Cowboy's shirt especially after the last game. Actually it was a great game regardless that the Patriot's lost. Yeah I am one of those guys that can't say "Park your car in Harvard yard" and you guys know what I am saying.

Hey Brad... Nothing too wild. Plan on maybe a bigger cam, going to stay "old school" as best I can, carb, mechanical distributor, etc.
I will be changing out the ring and pinion gearing, posi is worn out and could use better final drive (2.56 from factory)
Might lower the ride height and put bigger wheel/tire under it, they always looked a little funny to me at the stock height and little 14" wheels.

Finally talked the wife into letting me buy my dream car. 1968 Chevelle. Problem is it has been "worked" on and the trim tag is missing. The vin shows SS 396 if I'm reading it right? but it is not any more. Hoping to fine more about what this car was to make it right again. VIN 138378k145558
