Just wondering, ... how many from "not well known" cities, .. have heard it mentioned in the lyrics of a rock song? It surprised the heck out of me, way back, ... when Tom Petty's "Free Falling" came out. "It's a long day, living in Reseda". I was raised in Reseda Ca, just a ho hum city, in the San Fernando Valley.

"Well I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari, Tehachapi to Tonopah, I've driven every kinda rig that's ever been made" from Little Feat, "Willing".
I'm not from any of those places, I just like the song.

These off the top of my head:
Doraville, Georgia = Atlanta Rhythm Section, "Doraville"
Macon, Georgia (Most people outside of Ga don't know it) = Allman Bros, "Ramblin Man"
Winslow, Arizona = The Eagles, "Take It Easy"

Van Halen mentioned Louisville in "Big Bad Bill" on Diver Down
Johnny Cash mentioned Louisville, along with everywhere else in "I've been everywhere"

Seems like there are a lot more country and early rock songs about places, not so much in the last 20 years or so.

Numerous Kentucky towns and cities mentioned in Country and Bluegrass songs, but this thread ain't about that, is it? :)

How about "Going Down to South Park" by Primus... I'm always looking for Kenny when driving through that town. He's usually dead though. :D
