I got TDC with the points distributor and saw that my rotor was pointing to #1 terminal. Pulled it out. My question is in my Haynes manual it shows that the same terminal on the HEI distributor is #8. #1 terminal is shown on the other side. If I stab the HEI distributor to hit #1 I will have to turn it so the vaccum can will be in the wrong position. Or can I just make the #8 terminal my #1 and go from there. Just a little confused.

It really doesn't matter which position #1 wire is plugged into unless it causes the distributor to be in a position where the vacuum advance hits or causes some of the wires to be "too short"

Thanks Dean, I got her fired up and running fine after tracing down that I switched two plug wires around making the moves!
