Although racing season has really just started over here, it's time to look ahead and plan next year's engine. I'm planning to build a 565 for the 300 Deluxe over the winter and I'd like your opinions and advice on the combination. Here's the deal:

The car weighs in at ~3520 lbs with me. I have a built Turbo 400 trans (manual v/b, no transbrake) and a 12-bolt with 3.73:1 gear in it (I also have a 4.10:1 gear set). I would like to build a solid roller, pump gas 565 for which I already have a Dart Big M block bored to 4.600" and a Scat 4340 Lightweight 4.250" crank. My goal is to get deeper into the 9's through mufflers and on 93 oct pump gas, with 10.5" slicks. The car sees minimal street duty, so idle quality etc. are not an issue.

In addition to the block and crank, I have a set of Hooker Super Comps w/ 2" primaries that fit very well and I'd like to use if possible. Everything else, including the converter, I'd like your opinion on. TIA.

You would do well to speak to Mike Lewis @ Lewis racing engines he does ship internationaly and has very reasonable prices for engine parts. He also has extensive building experience with 500+ cid engines his number in California is (707) 984-6103 he is also on the web. Good luck

TIA.[/quote I would go right to a big cheif head, or if you want it to look conventional use an 18 degree 385 cc Dart, the problem with both of these cylinder head setups is that you will have to change lifter bore angles, but the HP potential is worth the extra expense and work in my opinion, this opens the door to over 1000 plus pump gas HP, our 18 degree 555 dart headed big block made 1170 HP, and backed those numbers up at the track, single 4 barrel, of couse this was on race gas, good luck.
