I am in the process of replacing my gauge housing ( the plastic aprt as the original is 50 years old and cracked everywhere).
How was the clear lens piece originally attached?
Was it glued on?
Or were the little plastic pins on the housing melted and mushed down?

Mine is a 68 and it looks like they were melted...whether by heat or a solvent I don't know. If it comes off it can be polished BUT it may be distorted. Since you said yours is broken. I'd try to cut the top off the melted part of the pin and see if it comes away. To re attach I'd use a solvent type of glue Sparingly for models to re attach it to the cluster. Not the kind in the tube rather the liquid type in the bottle. I think it's pretty much acetone but...I am not a chemist
