Hello.....
I guess this is a goofy time of year to ask this question, but back in the 70s I worked in a small machine shop. From time to time we sharpened lawn mower blades....we had a fixture that held the blade at "just the right angle" and it worked well.......much better than the freehand method. My question is.....where can I buy such a fixture??? I have checked out ebay and local shops, they have balancers but that's not what I'm looking for.

I have a grinder, mounted on a stand......just need the fixture. Have you ever heard of such a thing....??????

Thank you kindly-

Have you seen the drill attachments that are prebeveled? Like little grinding wheels?

There's also a nifty looking setup for a Dremel tool if you have one

Thanks again.....
The Dremel tool looks good, but it's still handheld. Same as freehand, I suppose. I will continue looking......maybe the fixture that we used years ago was custom made.

It is, after all, just a lawn mower blade.......my freehand sharpening skills leave alot to be desired though.

AHA......!!!!!!! Thank you Dennis, I didn't see that!!!!! I thought it was just a grinding stone. That looks like it would work. The guide is what makes the difference........that has to be better than freehand........and you get the correct angle too.

Thanks again.........

When I ran a few mowers on a large contract a few years back, I sharpened mine with a 60 grit disk on a 7" grinder, blade chucked in a vise. I tried to get my guys to change them weekly, as I kept a spare for each mower. (Mostly Snapper and Ariens.) Just a clean-up, and it's all good for the week. Unless they ran over something big and hard.
