I'm not sure how new this episode was but it was the one with the Le mans... Anyways, they went to boyds shop to get some one off wheels made. I thought there was some bad blood betweed Boyd and Chip? Did they kiss and make up?

That and Boyd probably needs some positive coverage instead of the Man - Soap Opera making him look like an idiot!

I agree. I think Chip took all the talented guys out of Boyds shop, and I think he puts them on Overhaulin' to rub it in. :D

I know I stopped watching that show, they need more time showing car restoration and less time with the drama. I would be a little scared to buy a car that he made his guys put together in 2 days.

Chip and Boyd did not make up...Chip took Boyd's talent away. Mike, the wheel designer, works for Chip now, that's why you seen him on Overhaulin'.

As for the actual SHOW, I think it was great! When I saw the TV guide preview, I was worried. It was "overhaul of hairdresser's car". .First a stupid Honda Civic, then some SUV that I can't remember, some pratically new Mustang, now a HAIRDRESSER'S car?! CMO'N MAN  ! At that point, I thought the show for sure was in the tank. Then, I saw the Le Mans, and my faith was restored :)

The Le Mans looked awesome when it was done with that 3 tone paint job..Foose actually pointed out that the wheel spokes were Pontiac logos, but I didn't catch that. Guess I'll have to watch it again :)

Oh yeah...The ONLY thing I didn't like about that car was the fact that they put a Chevrolet crate motor in it. Why not leave the Poncho 350 in it? Aside from the fact that the CHevrolet 350 is a better engine :) .. Better yet, put a 455 in the thing. As much as I am a Chevrolet fan, I don't care for this "throw a Small Block Chevy in it and be done with it" attitude.

I think they got in a lot of crap with that 442 they did where the engine blew up. Its a lot more time and work to rebuild an existing engine than it is to just call up one of your vendors who is giving huge discounts and have them drive over a brand new engine.

Also- I watched the reveal at the end... They guy obviously didn't care about originality of what the car was, he was just elated that it was now a cool car. And thats okay too.

If it was a true pontiac buff who would have cared about the engine swap (like the mopar guy who wouldn't have been happy losing his 4spd for an auto) they probably would have done something else.

Just my thoughts.

BTW: i only caught the end of the show- i had given up on this season after the first couple cars they did. I would watch the first couple mins and then turn away. Glad they remembered who their audience is.

Oh ok, thanks for clearin that up. I wasn't paying too much attention to the show and just saw Mike making some wheels.

my favorite part was during the reveal...the guy was looking at the engine and talking about the "pipes"...something like"wow there are four pipes now" (referring to the header on the passenger side)...he then proceeded to crawl behind the car to "see where the pipes go"
clearly not your typical car guy...but now that he has a sweet ride...maybe he'll become one

I remember watching the Boyd episode when Mike left, he was caught making, or was designing wheels for Chip while on the clock for Boyd. Could that have been the wheels for the Lemans?

Very doubtful. On that particular episode Mike was caught designing motorcycle wheels and boyd took the computers. I seriously doubt that Boyd would give chip the design's considering Mike was doing it on Boyd's time.

Anyone see the new American HotRod that was on monday night?

Wonder if Thomas the swede left to go work for Foose now as well.

What I find funny is how many people say they would never have Boyd build them a car, but would die for a Foose car. Most of the guys from Boyds are the very same ones now working for Foose. Its just the name on the car that is diffrent, the fabricators are the same.

I think the idea behind "never have Boyd build them a car" was that Boyd is always rushing his workers. I think Boyd had some good men working for him, but he may not have been giving them enough time to do things the right way.

seems to me that Boyd's show is centered a little more around tha actual building of the cars now, with the occasional "prank" thrown in to show that Boyd is a fun-loving guy.
hell, they even pushed a "deadline" back a day so they could go to the waterpark.

and did anyone else notice the red 'Vette sitting in the shop again? i thought that was built last season...

as for Overhaulin', it just isn't the same without Courtney.. same pranks, same big wheels, same 12 tone "Foose special" paint job, same ramjet crate motors.. but no Courtney..

I question how much of that is made up for "good" TV though. Everybody in this world that has a job, has deadlines. I can only think of maybe a handful of jobs that are not controlled by deadlines.

If you watch rides, a lot of those builders on their are incredibly pressured at the end by deadlines as well. I really don't think the quality of Boyd's cars is an issue. He has been around too long and made too much of a name for himself to just let it go. Hell, you see guys going for the riddler, sweating it out with a day to go to finish the car, and they are going after the most prestigous award of them all.

Its all drama, just like American Chopper. American Chopper is known for the two pauls barking at each other and thats why a lot of people watch. American Hot Rod made a name for itself with tight deadlines that look like a miracle to have gotten done, and many watch it for that. Discovery is just putting on what they think people want to see.

You have to remember, when you watch thse shows, you are seeing 45 minutes of probably a 3-4 week time span. Like I said, Discovery is putting on only what they want to show.

Even though it certainly looked this way. I dont think Mike was designing wheels for Chip on Company time at Boyd's. It looked more like he was doing it during off work hours or at least thats the way it appeared to me. But I guess why would he still be at the shop working on other stuff then? Looked like it was more of a "moonlighting" type of issue to me.

I see that Al is back with Boyd. (the guy with the big mustache) - He left last season and I thought I was watching a re-run but it was a new episode.
