This is a somewhat old story, but the area is being developed. I just took these pictures today on the way home from CB. They show the area of the old dragway. You can see the barriers piled up. I guess they are going to repave the dragstrip for the main street in the new residential development.

I always wanted to go see that the times I have been in Memphis. I remember seeing that track in Two Lane Blacktop, great movie. With all the growth of Memphis going out east, it was only a matter of time

I can remember when Lakeland was closer to me than Memphis. Sign O The Times, before MMP.

I used to visit Lakeland in the 60's. SS was my favorite drag strip class and my man Charlie Mitchell's big bad Catalina put the hurt on the Fords, Chevies and Mopars almost every weekend.


Great memories.
