I have found a tach out of a 66 chevelle that has a 7000 rpm face and the yellow band starts at 5700 and ends at 6000. The red band starts at 6000 and ends at 6200. It is a Knee Knocker Tach. All other tachs I have seen, the yellow band is 5200-5500 and the red is 5500-5800. Can any one tell me what motor this tach was for. Thanks for any input. Mike F.

I'm not exactly sure about 66 but I would have to guess that the higher red-line was the 396/375 L-78. The lower red-line was the 325 and 350 HP versions.

The 6000 RPM redline would be for a solid lifter car. Either a 396/375 HP (L78) or a high performance small block (unsure what horsepower ratings).

Its really not worth much, so I'll take it off your hands

These high redlines are much harder to get, so they're usually worth more$$$

Three different engines for 66, so yes, three different tachs ( 325, 360, 375 hp)each with higher redline.

Fellow member here HAIRY from Texas is looking hard for one of these, so if you have no use it for it, please contact him or me and I am sure he will make you a fair offer.

Mike
