I`ve had mine in for about a month now. At first I had some noises in 4th and 5th but was quieter once I removed my Muncie shifter boot. That boot seemed to fit very tight around my shifter. I now have a squeal around the tail end of the trans when rolling slow. Almost sounds likes brakes, but its not. I think it could be the dust shield and my drive shaft yoke rubbing. I lubed it once and that helped but now its back?

i am not on good terms with Keisler, they sent me the wrong flywheel and it nearly shook my motor apart. i called them to get the correct one and they kinda told me to go pound sand...it was my fault. so i ripped them a new one and now they don't like me.

so all in all you think you could call them and see if they know what the fix could be?

Your purchase and warranty (a legally binding agreement) mean you get support. It doesnt matter if they like you or you like them. If they balk see what they think about being sent a bill for having the trans checked and repaired locally. If they are not supporting this trans after all the BS with the past releases then they are digging a ditch thats already pretty deep even deeper. I dont see any company being able to afford that level of stupidity.

Much as I have railed on them I know I am disliked there for sure. But thats OK with me since none of their products will ever go on my car. I'll cut the floor pans and fred flintstone my a$$ around town first.

Man sorry to hear this guys. If they dont take care of this it will be a huge blow to them. They are already still trying to clear up the mess from the last 2 years.

Todd, Thank you for the kind words. You will never have to post frustration posts about my product or customer service.

I make sure my customer's satisfaction comes first and I also help them choose what is best for their vehicle and driving habits. For anyone that buys my product, I adopt the customer's vehicle as one of my own kids. You cannot care anymore than that.

Kudos to you Jody. You will be in business for a long time with that attitude. It is amazing the power of this internet. A quick search can tell you everything you want to know about anyone.

Guys,

I bought the RS 500 last year and I had problems. The first Tranny I had made howling noises in 3rd, 4th and 5th. I had to call Keilser out since they only wanted to do email support.

Anyways, they end up sending me a new tranny and it makes a howling noises in 5th. Not as bad as the first tranny. I took it to a couple of transmission shops and they think that the gears are cut at slightly different pitches. They said that this happens the very odd time in Tremec, but very rare.

So my choice is to put miles on it, hope it wears in and goes away. So far, that hasn't happened. I have put just over 600 miles. If I could replay this, I would have stayed with my M21 and changed the gears to 3:73 (I have 4:10) or went for the Tremec and cut.

It is all about the marketring

Hmmm, reading this is making me feel even better about my new TH-400... Haha.

I was REALLY wanting an RS-700 too, but just read too many stories like these to feel good about it. The final decision making "straw" was when I actually called Kiesler on the phone and asked about the SS-700.
As soon as I said I "wanted to ask some questions about an SS-700" they got all defensive sounding for a minute and said "well are you someone who's already bought or ordered one, or are you wanting to buy one?"
When I said I was interested in ordering/buying one their whole tone and attitude changed immediately and went back to all "roses" again.

Seemed like they'd been getting ripped on pretty good by angry people having issues with either their parts or services?

I ordered the ss-700. I was waiting for the SS-700 for about 9 months.... then switched to the TKO-600. Keisler sent me the wrong flywheel twice. They are really hard to get a hold of someone on the phone. Also, the hydraulic clutch throw-out bearing they sent me doesn't work with the flywheel and clutch in their own kit.

I am unhappy with them.

Jody for manual, Jake for autos.

Seems those two are the only rock solid, make it right, do it right, handle business and get it done folks.

they're here....no fear....im used to it. If I stay with a stick im going to go back to a 4 speed and screw the OD. If I convert to auto then OD but its a very short list that includes only one person. I cant roll on faith anymore, too much BS in the car world to think "I wont be like the other guys affected by this companies drama"....aint worth the gamble in the least.

Look at actions and reputations, dont assume you wont have a problem when you work with a known problem company and its "everyone else having a problem but I wont"

good old rock solid people with rock solid products. And good lord guys - to hell with the hydraulic clutches. At this point I think hydraulic clutch issues warrants its own complete bulletin board. Save the headache unless for some reason you have the left leg of a geriatric with a hip replacement and if your wife cant drive the car then you can blame it on old muscle car equipment and smile knowing she cant drive it and you didnt have to say no. :D

Something to think about....

I've learned a lot about manufacturing and rebuilding transmissions since I started in 1981. Met many people like Jody that are dedicated to high quality workmanship and use the products they sell.

The interesting thing about the AUTOGEAR 4 speeds that Jody, myself and a few others build is that by having authorized builders you can pump out the volumes of gearboxes and have your authorized builders SHARE ideas and solve issues. Think of is as "open source Muncies"! What cracks me up is the narrow minded aspect of companies designing and building transmissions with little to no input from people that have actually been in our line of work. They can fool themselves into thinking that the high tech quality control and engineering will trump street knowledge. It doesn't. Look at the Richmond Gear debacle with the ST10. With Richmond purchased by Midwest, the ST10 has been backordered for a year to "retool" in China yet duplicate all the weak issues. So many great features could have been added in the retool at no cost, but they never thought to actually ask people who service and build them. Any new transmission design will have growing pains and will also be an ongoing evolution. The Borg Warner transmissions, such as the T50, SR4, T4, T4C and T5 were designs that evolved from early designs. The T10 evolved from the 3 speed T85, then 1st design ST10 and 2nd Design ST10.

Are you are asking why I'm writing this? Because..... the 700 evolved from a combination of T45 and T56 platforms. The question is... did they take a few steps forward or backwards? Only time will tell and I do hope it works out well.

I'm think I will go with a "Muncie" with a 2.98 1st gear and 3.08s in the rear. Gas mileage will be close to that of an OD with a LOT lower price.

This is what I did and you have the take off feel of about a 3.55 - 4:11. Best of all worlds for a 4 speed.

Go with JodysTransmissions. You WILL NOT be disappointed. He built my M22Z two years ago and I was texting with him tonight with questions. His customer service cannot be equalled. Did I mention that he built it two years ago and he is still available for tech support at 10 PM eastern? Bo.
