i just put some p295/50-15 goodyears on my car and i'm looking for opinions on how to keep the body off my tires. right now, i have 200psi gabriel hi-jacker air shocks on it and they do pretty well. i've got about 2 to 2-1/2" clearance right now but i've had a couple close calls when i have un-even pavement. the tire rubbed once and i don't want to spend another $125 on a rear tire. i've looked into "air lift 1000" air stabilizers for the inside of my coils to keep the car from hitting bottom....has anyone used these and give me opinions, thoughts, ideas ?????
i don't want to resort to those cheesey rubber blocks or the adjustable spring jackers you see at autozone.

thanks, dave

i have 15x10 aluminum with p295/50-15 tires. my wheels have a 4" backspace so it brings out the tire about 1/2" past the qtr panel.
There's your problem. The correct fix is 5.5" backspacing. All those other things you mentioned will just cause more problems.

Here's mine also - 5.5" backspace.

If you need to keep the rims you have, you can also add air bags inside your coil springs, they will help take the load off the shock mounts some - but as mentioned, raising the rear that high will cause other issues, like increased chance of wheel hop.

I did more investigating and learned something else. i have american racing outlaw I wheels and i can't find anyone that carries a deeper offset than 4".
summit, jegs, e-bay.
i guess i'll have to deal with what i've got. i notice you guys either have ralley wheels or chrome steel. maybe that's the difference????

thanks, dave:sad:

Why not just go with some new or used station wagon springs? Depending on how much lift you want it will keep the tires from rubbing. Thats what i did on my monte with 10inch wide(13"sectional) tires on 8"vette rallys.

I got my springs for 30bucks off a 70's pontiac wagon:yes:

I had air bags on my car all of last year. I put them in for racing. With poly bushing lower control arms and the air bags, I had NO rear suspension. I ditched the air bags and put on Jegster lower adj control arms and now it's like a whole new car.

If you drive the car, I would avoid the air bags. These were Air Lift brand.

Probably should have been clearer - these are the airbags that go inside the coils, NOT an actual airbag suspension kit.

If you did the same thing I did, I think something else may have been off on your car.
