Hi forum members,

My first car back in 1998 was a 1970 GTO that my Dad and I put back together and modified some. A couple of winters ago I pulled the 400 out for a freshen up and ended up building a 461 stroker Pontiac motor from it with all new internals, aluminum heads, etc....

My oldest brother's first car was a 1970 Chevelle that he drove through high school (graduated in 1991) and some after that. In 2017 he unfortunately passed away. I have been lucky enough to end up with his 70 Chevelle but it had been sitting for AT LEAST 16 years in the same spot. This really has helped me cope with the loss and I am building it as a memory to him and trying to do it like he would have. After we drug it out (brakes locked up and deep in my parent's back yard) I started realizing how bad time had been to it. This was in October of 2020.

Since, I have done the following plus lots more:
  • Got the orginal 307 running (just to see if I could)
  • Pulled that motor and trans out
  • Pulled the body off the frame
  • Completely cleaned the frame and painted
  • Rebuilt all of the suspension with energy suspension poly bushings
  • Converted to disc brakes on the front and rebuilt the rear
  • Installed all new fuel and brake lines
  • Bough a used 454 with a B&M blower on top that I have completely rebuilt
  • Test run 454 in the frame
  • Installed new floor pans
  • Installed body back on frame with new poly mounts
  • Lots of other stuff

I am now to the point of wiring, trans(being built soon), wheels/tires(on order), and putting the front end back on. I also need to reinstall the dash and all interior. I have been reading a TON on this forum since starting the build 6 months ago and have finally signed up so I can be more involved where possible.

Thanks to all of your expertise out there as it has been tremendously helpful in the engine build and chassis work so far!
Nick

I’m in Gladeville. Stonefield subdivision. [email protected]
Wow! You are not far at all from me. Do you go to any of the local cruise-ins? When my driveway is dry enough (about 1500' of no fun) I get my GTO out on the weekends. Soon the Chevelle!

I know I wish I had it! I really want to get into that end of things and learn to tune but I do not have the current set up yet....
