Jacobs box

A friend of mine has offered to give me a Jacobs box. My question is, is this similar to a MSD box, if so which one? Also how would this benefit my ignition system. I'm hooking this up to an accel HEI in an 11:1 454 with a crane 544 lift, 302 duration hyd camshaft. Thanks, Rob
