I have the primary side of my Demon tuned nicely with the help of members here in an older thread a few weeks ago and decided to start on the secondaries today. Went out at lunch popped the hood and jetted them up to an 87 (from an 83) as I had to do the same up front to keep cruise happy (76 to an 80). I did the 4 in back to keep the BG split of 7 for baseline tuning.

WOW. I don't need a timeslip to tell me it wanted more jet. I was happy with the way the car pulled with 83's but it is an animal with 87's. Actually was rolling into 3rd and then matting it to see how it transitioned and it still has a bog but not as severe when the secondaries open. With the split of 3 it was BAD. BUT... when the secondaries do come in it will actually break the tires loose and spin them until I lift or shift. Never ever has done this. 27x10.5 ET Streets that are nice and warm after an hour ride home so it isn't like it is some cheap radials. I will work on the transition and tune from this jetting at the track. Wow I love this $hit!!

John - your the man ! Tuning on your car on a lunch break , 3 jet changes on the way home the other day. Glad your making it work.
Thanks man. Just happens to be the only time I can really tinker. On the way to and from work and lunch hour. By the time I get home and help get the 2 older kids ready for school and the 2 younger ready for bed, spend some time with the wife, check out TC here, and watch some Speed channel my lazy a$$ never makes it back outside to do these things. So when I drive it to work I do some tuning. Got a deadline as it gets parked Nov 1 and I want to know it is as "tuned" as it can be till next spring. Hoping to hit the track in the next 2 months but who knows if it will happen.

Did you decrease the HSB?
No not yet Butch. Plan to make the carb fully adjustable in that sense this winter while it sits. For now just tuning with what is adjustable. Plan to raise the float level and go up on squirters to see if I can smooth out the secondary bog.

wow thats awesome.

i got my squirters, and 10.5 power valve, and the vac gauge hooked up and running.
still have the secondary bog like i had before, but didnt try the new parts yet.

im guessing my jetting isnt enough either has im running 71-2/80. when ever my 80-90 jets get there i will throw it up some more and hope it runs better.

It's amazing what tuning has done for this car. I can't believe it took an 80 jet to get it to stop surging at cruise, but that is what it wanted. Now on the back with the jump I made and it woke up like that... well I will give it whatever it wants:D

I plan to fine tune the back jets at the track but like I said I just went to 87's to get the split (P to S) like BG had it. Wasn't expecting anything, honestly I figured it was going to be super rich. But nah, she is lovin' it.

Now I just need to sneak some $$ aside so I can get to the track and see what she really does. I have a number in mind and damn I think she can. Just hard to do this time of year as our budget is tight... all birthdays in out 6 member house fall between September and January. Than add the holidays in...yikes.:noway:

Hehe. Wow need to proof read before I post.

Need to revise my original post to the fact it was second gear I was in. Not 3rd. Rolling in 1st, shift to 2nd and nail it and it would spin till I lifted or shifted.

Car ain't that rowdy. That's BB territory to start spinning in 3rd from a roll with 3500 lbs...

Let it eat!!!

The beauty of a Demon carb is that it's got a slew of adjustments, and if you know how to tune it, it'll be KILLER!

The problem with a Demon carb is that it's got a slew of adjustments, and if you don't know how to tune it, it'll KILL YA!

People bad mouth them a lot, but I'm convinced the majority just don't know how to tune them. It takes time, and repeated testing, and more time, and more testing. I just don't think too many folks want to take the time, or they just don't know how to tune.

I think it's fun...as long as it keeps getting better! LOL!

I think Demon carbs work just fine. Agreed like any carb to have them work optimal they must be tuned for the combo they feed. But as far as tuning I find them just like a Holley although the same parameters can't be transferred, just the practice. A Holley may cruise fine on a 70 where a Demon may want an 80. Nature of the beast. Nike vs Reebok. Wear what feels good. In the end, eating I will let her!

Ok drove it for the 1st time in a week. I swapped to the red #240 cam on the secondaries to see if I could clean up the bog. Doing the rolling 2nd gear matt it test. Car spins the tires easily but it is cold out (50) and really even a long burnout doesn't allow them to hook. Anyway the bog has improved alot. I plan to try the #2 hole with this pump cam and see what comes from that. Looking through my log book I see this pump cam has always worked the best on the secondaries, but I plan to try each one on each hole to see what it likes best. Confident after that (best pump cam) and a squirter change and she will be ready for the track finally. Was shooting for this year but parking it soon so I will tend to the "bugs" this winter and early spring hunt down some 11's.
