I know you guys have heard me talk about this '71 Chevelle for the last year. It may actually be moved today. After 1300 is when the owner should be back to his house so we can get this ball rolling. (Sorry all this talk about the Marine Corps has me using that way to express time now.;))

I've arranged for transport to the house. So hopefully within the next four or five hours I can get you guys some pictures to show I am really not full of crap. :)

In a way I am excited. But I have been pulled around with these stories about the car being ready for too long now. I still am not really 100% convinced it's going to happen. But rest assured, if it does happen I will get those pictures up here on TC.

Just got it off the trailer this minute. It's not as complete as I was led to believe though. Drive shaft is gone, exhaust system is gone, and the brakes are dead, radiater is gone. She's a project but it should turn out to be a nice car. :)

Got pictures, uploading inbound.

Got a few bugs to work out. There are various parts missing that need to be found. The interior, and trunk is full of different parts. Need to start sorting stuff. Probably get up early tomorrow morning and get to work on it. I even got a free bell housing.

He offered me a set of wheels too, but I declined. Which in hindsight is probably a stupid move. I could have sold them and made $300 or something. Maybe I'll go back and say I changed my mind or something. :p

Chevelle looks good, Mikey. I like my projects to start like that. Unmolested. Sure, you might have to do a bit more to have a nice ride, but you don't have a bunch of surprises left by novice brokanics, either. :D

You can have her running by next weekend!

Nice project you've got - keep taking pics of the progress.

Not the original engine. What I gathered from the engine suffix it is a 1972 350.

I think there is a possibility the body/paint ,aside from the deck lid, is original. The code says it's Dark Rosewood Metallic. I can't say with 100% certainty though. Interior is definitely not original. According to the trim tag the interior would have been a black bench seat. Currently has a mixture of red, gold, and black interior. Dash and headliner are red, door panels are dyed gold (blue underneath) the bucket seats and what's left of the carpet is black.

Just shed my first blood over this car. I checked a couple of the spark plugs to maybe get an idea of how it was runnnig before it was parked. As I popped one loose I must have hit one of the zip ties that are holding the heater hoses together. I think I'll live though. :)

Yeah, yeah.

I've started to work out the real important things the car needs before I can even think about driving it.

-Exhaust pipes
-Shifter linkage connected
-Driveshaft put in
-Radiater
-New tires mounted on the wheels

Those are in no particular order. They are just all the top tier things that have to be done. Not to mention seeing if it will fire up. It turned freely, the oil is clean, and the plugs look good. I don't see why it wouldn't run.

I've bought this car, and I've got a guy coming by to look at the Toyota tomorrow. The guy sounded very interested. This is shaping up to be a pretty good weekend. :D

The one thing I'm going to have to get used to is the fact I always just said, "The Chevelle" but now that there are two here I have so specify. I've caught myself several times just saying "The Chevelle" when in reference to the '70.

Can't wait for the daylight tomorrow so I can start finding out what goodies came with the car. I got 3/4 of a set of the wheels that came off a '71 SS. If I can get another one I think I will just strip them down, paint them, and get new tires mounted on them. It's not going to be a hot rod car, just a good cruiser. The interior will have to be re done at some point. As I mentioned before it's kind of mismatched.

What I've seen there is no rust in the trunk, or floorboards. Some rust in the passenger side quarter though. There is also some signs of bondo in the trunk area. So that kills the original paint theory.

I also got an extra torque converter with it. I've got absolutely no use for it. Maybe I'll find out if it is any good and then try and sell it. Or just give it away.

Nice!

A bottle of Soft Scrub, a bottle of 409, a couple of hunks of hose, some elbow grease, and you are on your way to the cruise. That paint will shine right up with the Soft Scrub and some TR3 Resin Glaze.

Looks like a good deal.
