Hi guys
I just found an ad for a 12 bolt and was wondering if it's worth the cash and what to look for if I pull the cover to check the posi unit. If the posi is shot whats the ballpark for parts and labour to rebuild? I'd like to try and rebuild it myself it's possible. I just got a 70 Malibu body for free and a mint frame that has a 10 bolt. I'd like to put a 12 bolt in there. Here's the ad:

'71 373 posi...gears are bad and I dont know about the Posi unit $275

Thanks.

As long as the carrier isn't complete crap I'd say that is a good buy. It is a 3 series carrier.

New gears cost around $175-$200 for street gears.Depending on what is torn up, parts to rebuild the carrier could cost from $40 up to $200 plus if you do the work yourself. A new one is between $400 and $500. If you look you can still find used ones reasonable.

Thanks for the info. I'll post pics of the 70 Malibu and all the parts in the next couple of days. I'm really busy and it's been very cold here the last few days. It's suppose to warm up in the next couple of days so I'll get pics.
