Some say its proof that time travel is possible, that your seeing glimpses of the future.

I am sure I ****ed god off in a prior life... and he has brought me around again to punish my butt.... I think he wants me to know he is screwing with me, so every once in awhile he gives me a little (been there done that).

seriously.... The mind is a strange machine...... I believe it can convince our conscious and subconscious of anything, as well as control our body in unbelievable ways... mind over matter works, I know for a fact it does. why couldn't the mind convince us that we have had this same experience before.

yeah I remember that talk from psych class too. I remember the one that made the most sense was that sometimes the chemical process creating the memory is faster than the chemical process of perception, so that by the time your mind has processed what you are seeing, another part of your mind has already stored it as a memory, and you are able to "remember" it at the same time you are seeing it.

I for one beleive in it, and have experienced. I used to dream about the future. But, it wasn't like lotto numbers or anything, just like when I would be walking down the street I would remember that paper cup on the sidewalk. Or something along those lines.

Lately, I havn't had that, but I still get that "been there before" feeling.

I believe its real. And when I remember it the most, was that when my family would all be on vacation sight seeing and stuff, I'd dream about the place the night before, and I wouldnt know what it was yah know. Then the next day we'd go see the place, and Id seen the place before, in my dreams. Wierd stuff.

Its just the sensation that you've been there before.
The older you get the more dreams that pass through your mind its almost inevitable that you will experience deja vu

Some think it's a mystical phenomenon, however I'll side with science on this one. Well, this is according to my old prof. - It's when an experience happening at any given moment, bypasses the short-term memory (for whatever reason, aka brain fart) and gets immedediately stored into the long-term storage bank. How's that sound?

Okay, how about when you hear a name come up that you haven't heard of in years, then the same name pops up very quickly, say within a day, from a totally different source or angle. What is that phenomenon? I've always attributed that as a form of deja vu. No?

I don't want to trod on anyones beliefs or anything, but at least some of the instances of deja vu should be attributed to coincidence.

We make thousands of premonitions/random thoughts each and every day. Most of them do not come true or relate to a current event in our lives.

However, when one particular premonition DOES come true, we are going to notice it. The ones that DON'T come true we never give a second thought, because after all, we make thousands that don't come true. But if we think about a song and it comes on the radio, or a name and that person comes out of the woodwork, it sets off alarm bells and we say "Holy Crap! I just though about him/her/it!"

That probably accounts for the bulk of them. But only a fool makes definate proclamations, therefore I will not say it necessarily accounts for ALL of them (although I suspect it does).
