Everytime I have auctions on Ebay, I get alot of folks overseas that really want to purchase the item(s). I once sent something to Canada and the only bad experience I had is that the shipping cost more than what was quoted by Fedex, happened twice actually. Shipping ended up being double. This is why I dont ship overseas anymore...maybe its just me.

I'm I doing something wrong? I think I could get alot more money if I ship overseas.

Hi Vince.
We order LOTS of stuff from the US.
USPS is the only way to ship. We track by the shipping label.
In 30 years of doing this we have NEVER had an item go missing.
I send small packages to Europe and had the same positive experience.

Shipping is always pricey :(

 I agree.
I recently shipped a few items to Levon via USPS. Took about a week.
I've also been shipping items to Ireland using USPS. Very expensive (9 lb box was $54, a 54 lb one was $108!!).
But, the packages have always got there.

They are as accurate as your scale and dimensions. Best thing to do is pack the item up after taking pictures, just don't seal the box. Measure it, weigh it, and plug in the numbers. Check the accuracy of your scale with a known standard. My scale shorts me about 2lbs per 100lbs, so I just add 2lbs to any weight I come up with, and I've never been shortchanged at the counter. It's the stuff people ask to buy at a fixed price including shipping that sometimes gets me. That's why I just almost give stuff away, just to make it attractive enough to actually sell and ship.

Yep. I have over 1000 sold items on ebay, and ship 90% USPS. International is now only priority or express, so it looks high, but most people who are overseas or in Canada know what ballpark the shipping will be. You can always go to the post office as well and ask how much to ship something (already boxed) to a particular country.

Declare the value at under $75.00 and state it as used car parts.
Never a hassle that way.;)

I always check "other" and note ebay. Never had a problem. Declared value is the total I received in payment including shipping. Nothing to hide.

Bow-tie, the reason the person in nanaimo wants a lower value or 'gift' is to pay less tax on it... if the package gets caught up in customs we pay provincial and federal tax (and duty depending on where/when it was made) -all 3 can add up to 18% of tax! but its still cheaper than buying locally!

where possible ship to canada using USPS not fedex or ups...

69-CHVL is probably best to ask the buyer to pay actual shipping... then its up to them... its possible your UPS/fedex quotes doubled since they added on their 'customs' charges, which is why i use either USPS or have it shipped to the border and just drive to pick it up... an example is a intake i bought from CA, shipping to canada with fedex was something like $35, and they charged an additional $50 or so to 'walk it thru customs' ... if you ship thru usps, it will go to the nearest canada post office, and if customs nabbed it they will just tack on a bill to pay the tax on the 'declared value' when you pick it up (so for the intake it would have been $12 vs. the $50 fed ex charges)... which is no biggie since you probably saved a bunch of $ buying it across the border anyway...
