7.8 i belive, want a good one piece (sbc, no swedged ends) pushrod that will handle a solid roller with 2xx on the seat.

Ones I pulled out were almost all bent, 1 broken.

"Looked" to be the part of an .080 thick wall and upon cutting one open they were. Bought these years ago but only recently fired the motor up
HOWEVER.....

Musta been a Chinese piece. Although thick walled, they were heat treated on the ouside.

The metal inside you could almost peel out like butter literally. Looked the part of a good piece but wasnt.

Rockwell hardness on the outside was 58

Put one in a vice and just pushing (not even hard!!) on the pushrod and it gave like a kids toy, wondering how nothing in the motor ever got hurt! No wonder it was flat up top.

So I need new ones that will handle a SR spring.
One piece
Nothing cheap nor exotic.

What you guys like to use?

DITTO....I found 2 bent pushrods in my 355 CID powered 73 Vette that I used to own, so I replaced them all of them with the chromemoly .080" wall thickness ones from Comp Cams, and I never had that problem again (had the car for 6 years ) they cost about $100 for the set. Not sure what they cost now, but Summit Racing probably still carries them for a decent price. And if I remember right, they're of a one piece design.

Another vote for trickflow. Been using them for 3 years now in my 460 with a small solid roller, 180 seat pressure, 6400 rpms, 630 passes on the current pushrods. You can get them from Summit in just about any length you would need, and they won't break the bank.

I do want to get one that will do the job but a set of $300 rods isnt in the cards.......dont want to cheap out either.

They are 7.8 now and measure perfect but still have to pour the heads to see what they measure not sure if the block or heads will have to be milled.

Suspect I have a lot less compression than Im supposed to, know something tomorrow. Hopefully good news.

Trickflows as is my understanding are made by Trend anyway. Find their catalog online and order them directly from them. Great people to deal with, and they will make recommendations if you call them!

I am very happy with the stuff I got directly from then, and the price is dead on as well!

no matter what you get, clean and ck everyone, make sure the hole is open, no blockage
you would be suprised the crap you run across sometimes in them, esp if their the welded ones

I am running Smith Brothers twisting my BBC to 7000 RPM. Tell them the length you need and you'll have them in less than a week.

I've used Manley in my engines. Right now there are .145 wall Manton pushrods in my 540. I have used the Summit brand .080 1 piece ones in a flat tappet engine.

Trend. From what I read they are what most companies rebrand and sell as their own at more $$.

Excellent customer service. They had them in stock and I had them 2 days later. I paid $95 shipped for a complete set. .080" wall 5/16" standard sb stuff.

Thanks will make some calls. For some reason I was under the impression these were manleys, guess not. Was a number of yrs ago lesson learned. Some things you just need name brand period. Chalk it up to ignorance:beers:
