I have an incomplete Edelbrock Pro-Flo for SBC.

Bought on CL a couple years ago.
I have everything that attaches to the manifold but no computer, distributor, harness, or fuel pump.
Guy who took it off the wreck did not know he needed those parts too.

When this unit was made Eddy was still using batch injection.
Now they have upgraded to sequential injection.

The parts are available from Eddy to complete my system but the price is nearly as high as simply buying a complete new kit, so no real savings.

With winter coming I need to decide how to either complete this unit or what it's worth to sell or trade.

It looks like I should be able to use the latest MegaSquirt 3 system and additional necessary components for around $800, maybe less.
Cheaper if I just use batch injection and an MS-2.

Others that might be easier or less expensive?
One guy I know claims I can just wire up a factory Chevy control but has nothing to back that up.

Thinking I might put this on my truck for improved mileage and drivability.
The '68 El Camino is remaining "Old School" as long as possible.

Suggestions?

MS2 would probably be your cheapest route. You might be able to do it with a modified factory computer, but you'll spend a few hundred in equipment just to be able to tune it real-time like MS2 or the other modern EFIs.

MS2, a TBI/TPI distributor, you can make your own harness, and a fuel system. From everything I've read, sequential isn't worth the effort on a lower-power application. Batch fire runs fine. YMMV.

Well I am in Nevada so I'm going to let luck decide my course. ;)
Swap meet this Sunday.

Taking the Eddy F.I. and my Victor Jr. to the meet.

Whichever sells first, I keep and use the other.
If neither sells I may find an MS system to complete the Eddy F.I.
Looks like I should be able to complete it for $500 - $800.

So I would be in it no more than $1200.00
Eddy wants $2K just for their upgrade which does not include all that I need. :(

Thinking about this again as I'm back to working on the 327 build.
High compression, very lumpy cam, high RPM when I'm having a bit of fun but still has to survive around town.
Will be a daily driver, not too concerned if that takes some effort/skill on my part.

Still have the Victor Jr - Holly DP and the incomplete Eddy FI intake/injectors/fuel rail, etc.

Eddy said that their Pro-Flo system does not handle lumpy cams and high revs very well, so not buying their $2K upgrade kit.

Not sure about it but Megasquirt seems to think their MS3 system would have no problems.

I know the carb and Vic Jr. will work at speed, not so sure about around town?

'68 El Camino, manual trans, not drag racing, but high speed runs WILL be happening.

Need to decide my path, so just how flexible is the Megasquirt compared to the DP and Vic Jr.?

I waiting to hear what you come up with. I have a Cuttler intake with all the sensors for a large port BBC. No rush on my project as I changed directions and going to a 5 speed first. Nice to check in every so often to see how this section of the site develops.

The megasquirt is very flexible. It can do all sorts of stuff.

I have ems-pro (ms1-extra) on my sb. I'm using the Holley single plane intAke, 4150 90* elbow to ls truck 3 bolt throttle body. Msd 8360 old style ready to run distributor and 6al box. Megasquirt is controlling fuel as batch fire and is also controlling the timing.
I just finally got it going, threw it on the dyno on Xmas Eve, but was having issues with it breaking up at 4000rpm. I'm working with a guy who tunes megasquirt for a living, helped develope the ems-pro and has tuned some very fast vehicles ( Larry larsons 6sec s10, some bonneville cars I believe as well). I need to phase the rotor yet and make a few changes and I should be pretty well sell.
Ask away and I'll try to help as much as I can with what I used, and how it's set up.

I have about 1500 total I think into it including the tanks inc tank.

Megasquirt will work just fine with Richard's 327. It worked well enough on this guy's 555ci BBC to win Pro Street NA class in Drag Week, http://www.diyautotune.com/racing/drag_week_2011_results.htm

I'm gonna guess Aaron is talking about Scott Clark (dieselgeek on the forums). He's supposed to be really good at tuning these things and he's been around the megasquirt forums for years.

I just fired up my ZZ383 on my MS2 for the first time last night. Merry Christmas to me.. :)

Would be nice to be able to use MS in the hope that the Elky might be more driveable outside my home area.

Lots of altitude changes if I leave the local valley.

So fuel and timing, knock sensor if possible since I'm looking at fairly stout compression.
