I run 3.89 and 305/45R18 Dragradials. 4L80e transmissionThat car is quick for the size. I got a 79 box 2 door Caprice I am putting at least a 496 in. I already got the 8.5 10 bolt at the shop so they could put my 4.30 gear in it. What gear are you running?
I once saw an early seventy's Impala run into the rear end of a 59 Chevy Biscayne, it destroyed the front end of the Impala and barely hurt anything on the '59. It even knocked the radiator out of the newer car. Not nearly as strong as you might assume.Wow a 73 Impala. That is one fast Imp.My family had a 73 4dr Impala and it got handed down to 3 drivers total including me. Harold with all due respect you probably saw a 71 or a 72 Impala. The 73 to 75 Impala/Caprice is one of the most sought after cars for Demo derby,if they can be found after all this time.In the 73 they came out with a DOT law that said any car sold in the US must be able to survive a 5mph crash without sustaining any damage in a frontal crash. The 73 cars had the front bumpers and the 74's had 5mph bumpers front and rear.Started with the front of full size cars in 1973 but by 1975 all domestic cars had to comply front and rear. Those bumpers were full steel on the Impala and if you hit something with that bumper you caused plenty of damage.I once saw an early seventy's Impala run into the rear end of a 59 Chevy Biscayne, it destroyed the front end of the Impala and barely hurt anything on the '59.
