Well, I was going to suggest doing a search here for the tons of comment on this swap, but the search function is not up at all times. The key to this is supply a full 12 volts to the HEI. This can be done by running a wire from the HEI to a terminal on the fuse block that is "switched power" controlled by the key.It must provide power while cranking, so the accessory terminal is no good. An alternate is replace (or bypass) your resistor wire with a regular copper wire. Another alternate method is to use the resistor wire to control a relay that puts full 12v to the HEI.
