Turn the key to the accessory position and stick a paper clip in the tiny hole in the face of the bezel. Push the paper clip against the spring loaded pin you will feel when the clip bottoms. When you have depressed the pin pull on the key and the whole switch assembly will come out.
Profanity won't help you do this job and certainly won't endear you to the ladies on the site.
If this is for a pre-69 follow Bill's instructions with one small change. I use a tiny jeweler's screwdriver. Once you locate the release button, you need to turn the lock past the ACC position. Turn it more counter-clockwise for the lock to come out.
