purchased used dash assembly. do not have key, and would lik to remove ignition switch without trashing it. anybody have a clue. i have a new cylinder with new keys, but would like to not have to purchase a new switch.

Knowing the year model would help. There are different procedures for different years.

Randy the dash is out of a 66, its on the bench stripped execpt for the ignition switch.

did you try one of the keys to the new switch? many of the old switches are worn enough that just about any key will work. if you can get the switch to move to the accessory position (counter clockwise) insert a paperclip to free the cylinder and turn a little farther to get it out. almost any key in my box of junk will start my 66 elky. LOL.

Have tried the hand full of old keys that i own to no avail. Thought that at least one of them would work, one thing after another an this dash overhaul.

Thanks ED drilled out old tumbler and did not damage the rest of the switch. Thanks for every ones replies.
