I know I've saved this link before but I can't find it. It's a very detailed article starting from setting the throttle plates to the correct position in regard to the transfer slot and then continuing thru the entire process. Anyone save the article or the link? Thanks for any help.

Thanks Derrick. I was hoping to find the article for a fellow TC'er. I believe he will need to open the secondary throttle plates slightly along with what you've mentioned to get it 100%. I recall that article covering what could be done if locating the primary plates and correctly adjusting the mixture screws failed to correct the problem. Thanks again for the help.

The trick is to expose about .020 of transfer slot looking from the bottom, or like mentioned square works. The problem comes when you run a cam with low idle vacuum, the engine does not draw enough air through the same opening of the butterflies. When you open the butterflies to correct this more than a small amount, you uncover the transfer slots and make the mixture screws unresponsive. For minor amounts, you can cheat a little by opening the secondaries a little to balance it out. For engine with very large cams, you can drill small holes in the butterflies, usually 3/32 is a good starting point, this adds more air without affecting the transfer slots and will allow you to properly adjust the idle mixture. If you have to go that route, locate the holes inline with the idle discharge ports at the "x" like the picture below, ignore that it is a Dominator.
