I've been trying to get some info on how to do this for some time and I finally had someone refer me to this forum, so I'm hoping I can get some help.

I'm trying to convert the cluster of 3 idiot lights and the fuel gauge to the 4 gauge cluster with fuel, volt, oil, and temp. I have all of the gauges, but I'm just not sure what all I need to go from the engine to the dash. I put in a 350 about 3 years ago so I don't have any of the sending units for the idiot lights. I don't know if those could even be used or not.

If someone could help me out or lead me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Hello fellow Husker!

I'm not sure I can offer a whole lot of help. I think the first thing you need to do is round-up more parts. You'll have to get the sending units (for oil, temp. etc) that were originally designed to work with your guages. You'd have to tell a parts store it's for an '82 elky WITH the full guages.

I'm not sure my diagrams are that modern, I'm not sure if you need a new harness or not--do you know someone that works at a Chevy dealership, perhaps they can point you in the right direction for schematic information?

I honestly can't tell you if there were (2) differnt harnesses (one for idiot lights and one for guages) in '82.

Kind of nice hearing from a fellow Husker.

Anyway, just wondering if there was any way you could email me the diagrams you have. But I will definitely talk to a parts store and find out everything I can.

82 Elky, You might try asking over at www.montecarloss.com to see if someone there can help you. There is an Electrical forum there too.

82Elky,

I unfortunately have misplaced my schematics
Really a bad time too. *I think* you want the Haynes manual entitled something like "Chevelle/Malibu 1969-1987". I believe it will have (although a bit confusing) the circuit #'s and diagrams for the wiring harnesses for your application.

Thanks for all the help. I'll keep checking back here from time to time. I'm also on some other forums, but this one is by far the most helpful so far.
