1) Can you take a passenger exhaust manifold and spin it around so that it's collector faces "forward" on that same passenger side and it still line up and bolt up? Same question for the drivers side.

2) Can you take a passenger manifold and put it over on the driver's side and its collector face forward? Likewise, can you take a driver side manifold and put it on the passenger side and its collector face forward?

It'd be a big help for me to know if the symetry (sp?) is there. If you happen to be able to take a picture or two, I'll promise to send you a christmas card! :)

As both heads are the same (no left/right) your 2 will will be facing forward and down.
To accomplish your 1 ,the manifold would need to be rotated 180°'s (inverted) just to bolt up to the head and that would have it facing forward and upward -not too bad for a turbo setup.

I have a pic of this somewhere at home
In fact----the head and manifold bolted together with the outlet pointing up are sitting on the tailgat of my 64 C-10 at this very moment.

There will need to be some slight trimming of the head or manifold to get it to seat correctly.

I'll get another pic and post it tonight

When I put the headers on my boat--facing up, of course--I discovered that the bolt holes had to elongate by about a quarter-inch to make the ports line up.

PITA, but it worked.

THAT is the internet rumor I am seeing.

Pics would be great! If I need to send you an email address, just drop me a PM. :)

It seems worthwile enough to look into myself, which I will. It just helps konwing beforehand what I might be getting into.

They will fit.

Now if bolting them upside, like a jet bolt looks, they will bolt up but the exhaust ports will not line up properly and will leak. They are off by about a 1/8-1/4 inch. I did this on a test run-in stand.

I should have titled this thread better. I searched and didn't find it. But now I can't edit the title. O'well.

Below is a link to several candidates for exhaust manifolds. My only option is to swap laft to right and still have them face "down" on the exit. Like was said above, if you flip them bottom to top you have a lot of miss-alignment to deal with.
Not bad for $80 each. Now I just need to figure out the accessories and pulley part of the equation.
