I've tried for about an hour now and cannot figure out how to get the lighter element out of the dash. I have a 70. I'm so close to just ripping the thing out of there and messing up my dash. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Mine wasn't original, but it's two pieces, the back (behind the dash) screws onto the front, which is inserted through the front of the dash. Assuming it's unplugged, try holding the inside with something semi-soft (balsa wood, cloth-covered something) then unscrew the back...

19Chevelle70, Dude.....its one of those things that looks weird..like a puzzle...but it's really easy. First, there is the electrical plastic piece on the very back. Un clip this piece. There are clips on two sides, gently pull those apart and the piece pulls directly back. once you have that part off, The two remaining pieces unscrew from each other. One piece coming thru the front, one coming out from back.
