Go to Jack in the Box and order a "sourdough bun". That's it, a "sourdough bun".
Then tell them you want lettuce, tomato, onions, and mayo.
The price here........ .060 cents.
You can get pickles, ketchup and their special sauce too, (forget what they call it) but I like mine with just the 4 ingredients I listed above.

Got 3 of them today for lunch. $1.95 with tax. ($1.80 + .15) Went to the local deli and bought 1/2 lb of lean turkey for $2.75. I now have enough meat for 3 more sourdough buns tomorrow.

You can get a regular bun, which is just a hamburger bun for .040 cents. But I think the sourdough bun tastes better. So I splurge and spend the extra .020 cents.:D

The funny part........I keep hearing the guy in the kitchen yelling out to the guy/gal who takes my order......
(((((("no meat on these sourdoughs"???))))))

The kicker.......these things are damn good. Really tasty.
And I'd prefer not to eat the meat patty they sell anyway. Mainly because of the additional cost.
All in all, I think it's a pretty healthy sandwich, especially if you take off the mayo.

You guys try it and let us know what you think.

Anyone else ever heard of this? A friend of mine who used to work there told me about it.

fwiw, I have a loaf of bread, a 1/2 lb of turkey, a head of lettuce, a jar of mayonaise, a tomato, and a white onion in the fridge now.

These .060 cent sandwiches come wrapped up, fresh and ready to eat. Pretty hard to beat IMO. Especially if you're on the road and don't want to bother with making sandwiches. If I had kids I'd stop in and get about 8-10 of them. Easy good and quick. Not to mention cheap !

This post made me remember back when I was a kid, Mom made us bologna sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, and mayo for lunch. I couldn't stand bologna but I loved BLTs (couldn't afford the bacon, though)so the next best thing was lettuce, tomato, and mayo sandwiches. Man, those were good!

No way! Why wouldn't anyone want to eat the meat at Jack in the Box!? :p

Seriously, sounds like a cheap and convenient way to stock up on some lunch for a fishing trip. Just bring the lunch meat and you're ready to go! I just might have to try Jack in the Box now..

Anybody checking the math on the original post? MR69 is confusing engine bore size with the cost of food I think! .060 vs .60 :)

Not making fun at anyone's expense, no pun intended!!

ok, I confess, I've eaten about 6 of these in the last 3 days.
My next trick is going to be to ask how much for extra lettuce and extra tomato?

I was telling a friend about this the other day and I said, you know, when you and the wife and the kids and friends get ready to go down to the Pismo dunes for a day of fun and BBQ'ing, stop by a Jack in the Box on the way and pick up about 10-15 of these sandwiches. Toss em in the cooler. Then when you get there all you have to do is focus on BBQ'ing the beef and when it's done, hand out these sandwiches with plates and toss a burger on there and presto. Quick and easy and a lot less food prep and all for about $6-8 !
