With the bonus I got at work recently (will be on the next paycheck) I will be able to pay cash for the wheels and tires for the wagon and it will effectively be complete and ready to roll onto the street. I still need to put plates on it and get carpet made for the rear cargo area, but the last big expense is within my grasp and without using credit! Just in time for warm weather. I suppose it will rain for the whole month of April, but I just don't care. I FINALLY got the front suspension to sit where I want and with the new wheels and tires I'll be able to log some break-in miles on the darn thing. I hadn't been counting on any bonus, safer that way, so I wasn't expecting to finish this thing until much later into the Summer until I could save the cash for the new shoes.

If I recall correctly, it was June of 2003 when I bought a hulk of a basket case. It didn't even get here from California until October and all I did for 2004 was tear it apart and start building the chassis. Anyway, it's been a longer term project than I had ever planned. I just can't wait to log some highway miles and get it into 3rd and 4th gear for the first time.

Now maybe I can set my sights on a cat-back exhaust system for the new GTO. And concentrate on getting the old GTO through the body shop and get it running for the first time since the 1970's.

Cool! I really like the pointed-spoke look of the V40... they look very vintage, classic, and cool, without looking exactly like all the other Torq-Thrust style wheels on the market.

What sizes did you decide on?

17x7 with 235/45-17s up front with 17x8 with 255/45-17s out back. I wanted to get 275s in back, other 65 owners have, but I measured and it would just be too tight for spirited driving.

BUMMER! Driverz Inc. just called and said that the V40s can't be built with the offset we need. So, that takes me to the Billet Specialties Mag-G. In the end, I'll be spending a little bit more for a wheel I like a little bit less. Oh well. What are you going to do if you have a 64/65 and want to fit the biggest tires possible?
