Thought I had a problem when firts starting this engine and adjusting the valves. One of my retro lifters was tightening down further than the others. The engine started and ran pretty good, and after started to work out some bugs, I had to remove the intake to re-seal the front and rear seals (another thread about that one). I was anxious to inspect the lifter in question. I have since removed the lifter and as suspected, the internal piston is down all the way. I shot a little burst of air into the lifter to get it to pump up while holding the oil holes. It shot right up, butafter removing my fingers from the holes, it sucked back down. I thought it would have some spring pressure, but none. It continues to move down pretty freely. Is this a repairable part? It is new, and has less than 20 miles on it, but probably been a few years since I purchased it. I guess I need to know if it can be repaired and if so - how? I remove dthe3 spring clip, but the alignemnt pin limits the movement of the piston. If not does anybody sell single cylinder replacements? Thanks Dan

You can buy single set (2) lifters from who ever the manufacturer is. Ive done it.

It is a Comp Cam, I have the comp recommended springs and pushrods. It is a street - mild cam. The lifter was this way before the engine actually started for the first time so I do not think the cam or springs caused it. The lifters however I am not sure of the brand. I have researched them and they look like the ones from Nickels racing, which I am pretty sure are Morel lifters. I have also seen the same looking ones from a few other manufacturers - including overseas lines. So I guess I will need to figure that out, or I could even buy one from another company, since the cam only has a short run time on it.
