Just finished painting my 68 chevelle post car "HUGGER ORANGE" Theres lots of white pearl in it to resemble the 69 on the cover of Super chevy July 2001. Talked to the shop in California that painted it, very helpful! My car is not an S/S, therefore there will be no S/S trim, or stripes. It came with S/S hood that I wont be using, my 427 won`t fit under it without cutting it up, what a waste that would be. So i`m still looking for a cowl induction hood, glass or steel. My dilema is this, IT`S TOO ORANGE, without black it looks like the great pumpkin!!!!!! If anyone has any suggestions, and better yet, pictures, I would really appreciate it

Keep looking at it. The color will come to you and you'll like it soon enough. Remember - If anyone makes a wise crack they probably don't have as nice a car as you.

Dale; your pics are great!!!! Didn`t mean to insult anyone, I like the orange, just not SOOOOO much of it. The 67 pumpkin told me lots, my centerlines will really help, but more than anything, since I wont be putting any black on the lower body, I need a set of chrome rocker mouldings. What years should I be looking for to fit the 68? Sorry but I can`t do the flame thing

What about a white pin stripe down the side as seen on my 68 that I had my senior year. http://chevelles.com/showroom/ace841d.jpg
disregard the skinny geek hanging on the car
. BTW my 68 SS I have now was hugger orange when I bought it and it looked good with the black top. I had to paint to the original color though. My Pro Street is gonna be orange or yellow but more likely the Cobra R orange or something bright. Maybe a 70 chevelle Baldwin/Motion scheme. Good Luck

My 69 is Monaco (Hugger) Orange with a black vinyl top. I think the black top looks good with that type of color.

ORANGE is good - see pics in my signature below.
Sorry I don't have current pics, but I thought I had made a mistake when I picked it up from the paint shop - it was wayyyy toooo orange.
After installing chrome trim, hood scoop, mirrors, windows, etc , it looks much better. I plan on a pin stripe to help a little, but that is it. Looks goooood.
Install your stuff, give it time, it will grow on ya.

A black vinyl top really sets those orange cars off nicely. Great look.

What about the stripes that run down the sides on these cars? Were the stripes an option all on cars that year or just SS's? I believe the 70-72 deck stripes could be had on non-SS's with the bumped hood, although that may be an "urban legend".

I also feel the vinyl top would break it up nicely. Match they vinyl top to the same color side stripe would look very good. I used to paint all of my cars Hugger Orange. Loved that color
