Im in the prosses of building a 496

445 4bolt block
eagle 4130 4.25 crank
eagle h beam 6.385 rods
srp flat tops
702 heads w/2.19/1.88 valves port&bowl work
compresion around 10.1 to10.2
t 350
3.73 rears
26" tall tires

need advice on hr cam,intake,carb,and header size this will be 90% street car
some strip a couple 2 to 300 mile trips a year but mostly weekend bruser.

I love my hooker comp headers they work and fit great in my 70 elcamino. The comp xtreme roller cams under 240-250 duration at .050" are great for street.And a Holley 750 or 800 double pumper. I'd also go with the performer rpm air gap intake.This is what I'd probably use myself on a 100% street driven car/daily driver.Lunati also makes a great cam.Keep it under .600" lift for reliability.Hope this helps

Dont know if its the right one for you but Im sure others will chime in.

Besides the heads you have a similar combo to mine.

I never did go w/ a HR cam but instead a SR.

As you can see by BigRed-L72 et its a good cam.

What kind of car is it going in, a heavy chevelle?

Eddy air gap or rpm would be my choice.

Im no expert on carbs but I'd go w/ a 750 or 850 vac secondary. I think(?) they are much better suited for street/strip use but Im not sure.

I got my 850 VS on ebay. A brand new take off from a ZZ502 crate.

To bad UDHarold left for the PRI show , he could of given you a recommendation. He'll be back next sun. or mon.

I'd still go with a holley double pumper for the street. I ran an 850 on my 454 in my elcamino and it ran great on the street. Even got about 15mpg on the freeway with 3.73 gears and 26 inch tires.And it would lay rubber for all 3 gears and take mustang svt's light to light. I also run a 650 DP on my daily driver with a zz4.
