What is the best way to restore the '67 seatbelt with retractor cover? The end of the belt will not fit through the cover. I need to dye the belts and paint the covers. What is the best way to get this done?

The last time I messed with my seatbelts I think I took the belt loose from the base by removing the pin and sliding the cylinder out. The spring in mine was shot, so I just put it back together, but I think you can just take that end of the belt loose from the cylinder and pull the belt through the cover. I'd have to look at it again to be sure. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I will take a close look at the assembly before taking it apart.
