Hello,

I got the car with no gas tank. So there is nothing to R&R.

I ordered a new tank, cap, 3/8" sending unit, straps and such.

The tank has a vent tube coming off of it. Where does this vent tube get plumbed to? Is there a hardline that should connect? Where is the end of it vented to?

Did you order & new sending unit & new fuel tank to pump fuel lines? You'll need those also.

I believe on a 66 & 67 The vent line goes into a hard vent line on the right side of the far inside of the trunk behind the back seat.

(As for the actual connection at both ends of the all the hard lines...a short piece of neoprene fuel line...)

You should have ordered the AIM as well. Your questions would have been answered. FYI the GM service manual would help too

What is the AIM? Where can I get it and the GM service manual?

It would seem easy enough to do without a manual. Just one supply line and one vent.

AIM = Assembly Instruction Manual

Tak vent loop is on the right side of the trunk area.. The loop is a specially shaped piece of 5/16 hard line which connects to the tank via a shoet piece of rubber fuel line. It goes up into the trunk area through a rubber grommet sealed 1 7/8" hole in the sheet metal trunk differential deck, on the right. The vent loop rises just in front of the right trunk hinge brace. It rises about 12 inches into the trunk, tightly bends 180 degrees back onto itself and goes back down and out through the same hole it entered, opening to the atmosphere a few inches below that grommet. A special rubber grommet with two holes seals the 5/16 vent pipe to the trunk deck sheet metal. The grommet and pipe are not spatter painted.

Dave, thanks! I never would have thought chevy put a loop in the trunk. I dont remember that in my first chevelle, but I was 17, and my girlfriend was very hot. So the trunk didnt hold my attention as well as the back seat did!
