Hey guys im looking into improving my '69s suspension alittle. Right now i have only air shocks, wagon springs and no hop bars on the rear not stock and completely stock on front.

So what can i do to better set it up for the strip without to big of a change? I want to keep the stock setup a much as possible. I run ET streets on it. Seems to hook good but sometimes it wheel hops off the line still.

First thing I would do is get rid of those piece of crap air shocks, they will do nothing but wreck your upper spring perches if you launch with the shocks aired up.

If you are getting wheel hop, you need to get the rear of the car down or at least get the lower control arms more parallel to the ground. Get some UMI Performance bolt in lower bar relocating brackets. They cost me under $100 I believe and my wheel hop is gone.

Excellent points, both relating to the vehicle's *INSTANT CENTER*.

Understanding, finding, adjusting, and
correcting the suspension reality of a
particular vehicle's *INSTANT CENTER*
is a fundamental place to start.

What shocks do you suggest?
Personally I would get some nice adjustable shocks, but if that isnt in the budget, just a set of replacement shocks will be far less damaging to your car. I will have to see if I can find the picture of the damage to my car. When I bought it it had air shocks on it, and it took all of about 5 launches with it to literally tear the entire top shock mount off of the frame. I ended up lifting the body, cutting the entire spring perch/shock mount free of the frame, going to the junkyard and cutting that section of the frame from another a body, and then welding the spring perch/shock mount back onto the car. It was a very involved process that would not have been needed had the car not been raced so heavily prior to me purchasing it, with air shocks on it.

I am running it for the first time this coming Friday night. I am hoping for some low 11's right out of the gate, 10's with a bit of tuning and if it hooks

For being a somewhat affordable shock, I've heard good things about the Chris Alston (Chassis Works) "Vari-shocks". The "Bolt-in" DOUBLE adjustables would be the ticket....(I believe they're less expensive than the QA-1 double adjustbles...

 The double adjust Vari-shocks are excellent!!
They have a much more useful range of adjustment than the QA-1

I broke my 12 bolt when i hooked a few weeks ago. Buffed it up some and goin back in 2 weeks. What kind of fuel system do you run and header size? You seem to have about the same combo as me is why im asking.
My rear end is the part I am most woried about as well. Not sure I want too much hook right now at all. Luckily friday nights the track prep isnt generally as good.

As for my fuel system I have -10 running from the tank to a Carter 172 fuel pump and then -8 up to a pro systems 1000hp carb. I also have a McRobb 1/2 inch fuel sending unit in the tank. As for headers I use hooker competetion 2 inch primary 3 1/2 inch collector with 3 inch exhaust all the way back through 22 inch magnaflow mufflers.

I noticed our combos are very close to the same, I suspect we would be very closely matched if we were both tuned perfectly>

I am ordering some new Hoosier Quick Time Pros tonight, so hopefully they get here in time, Summit and Jegs are usually 3 days out for me.

Right now I have 3/8 stock line and 110 holley mec pump on mine. I'm about to put 1/2 inch all the way up with a much better pump before I go to the dyno. So far all I've got it to run is a 12.1 then it broke when I tried to really launch it. I'm stock weight full interior on drag radials. I think you would have an edge on me for sure but it would be a good run! How do you like the TKO?

X2 on Ditch the air shocks!

I went from air shocks to the cheapy $25 dollar jegs/summit 3-way adjust drag shocks even. Picked up almost 1/2 a second. Best $50 I ever spent.
