We have a 70 El Camino SS here with a 396 in it. Where can I find the info to find out if it's a factory big block car and if this motor came with this car?

We haven't been able to find a build sheet or anything on it.

If it's a Canadian car you can contact GM Canada, give them the VIN and they'll send you an Option List.

And if it's a US car?

If it's U.S. and you can't find a build sheet you can't verify what engine the car was born with. I'm assuming the vin stamp on the engine doesn't match the vin of course.
