Found a guy with a 71' boxed convertible frame rolling. What should I pay for this. He wants $2000

Not a lot of these around anymore so it's anyone's guess. Just when you think you know the market, the demand surpasses the supply even further and the price goes nuts. If it were me, I'd wait for a better frame and would be willing to spend a little more for a little less rust.

It's a deal for $1500. I would buy that, take it apart, then get it to the stripper/powder coater and call it done! I see surface rust but no holes or major issues. If you find any areas that need cut out and fixed $1000 or less. Good Luck!

Way too pitted and rusty to be worth 2K. Not even half that. 800 tops IMO.

I can understand the anxiety to start working on your project. But that frame sure looks bad. What is it going to look like after sand blasting? I personally wouldn't use it. But it's your car. 500 bucks and toss the frame.
